Runway Report: Paris Fashion Week

¡Feliz domingo, mis amores! Les escribo este recap desde NYC en el que les platico sobre mis pasarelas favoritas vistas en París. Espero que les sirva de guía para descubrir qué vamos a usar en Primavera-Verano 2019.

Happy Sunday, my loves! I’m writing this recap from NYC in which I talk about my favorite catwalks that last showed in Paris Fashion Week. I hope you find this list useful and as a guide to discover what we’re going to wear in Spring-Summer 2019.

DIOR

¡Esta es mi pasarela favorita! Amé que Maria Grazia Chiuri se inspirara en el baile como acto liberador que utiliza el ritmo, el movimiento y la música. Me encantaron los estampados florales abstractos y artesanales tie-dye, las chamarras de mezclilla inspiradas en los sonidos del hip hop, los trajes de color, además de las bolsas.

This was my favorite runway! I loved that Maria Grazia Chiuri took inspiration in dance as a liberating act that uses rhythm, movement and music to connect with our deepest self. I really liked the abstract floral and handmade tie-dye prints, the denim jackets inspired by the sounds of hip hop and the colored suits.

GUCCI

Amé ir a esta pasarela con la que Alessandro Michele sigue demostrando que cada temporada revoluciona a la marca. Flecos, plumas, plisados, estampados bohemios y telas llenas con el monograma de la firma, estuvieron presentes en toda la colección.

I loved going to this catwalk in which Alessandro Michele continued to show how he reinvents the brand for each season. Fringes, feathers, pleats, bohemian prints and fabrics filled with the signature monogram were the main elements in the collection.

BALMAIN

Me fascinó ver a Cara Delevingne en esta pasarela con la que Olivier Rousteing hizo un homenaje a su infancia y al poder de la mujer con botas por encima de la rodilla y vestidos ajustados.

I loved seeing Cara Delevingne on this catwalk where Olivier Rousteing paid tribute to his childhood and girl power with thigh high boots and tight dresses.

CELINE

Heidi Slimane regresa después de dos años de ausencia para presentar una colección en la que apostó por el negro y el rock and roll. Lo que más me gustó fueron las chamarras de piel negras y las botas mezcladas con mini vestidos de fiesta.

Heidi Slimane returns after two years of absence to present a collection in which she opted for black and rock and roll vibes. What I liked the most were the black leather jackets and the boots paired with mini party dresses.

SAINT LAURENT

La vibra de las estrellas de rock de la década de los 80 predominó en la nueva propuesta de Anthony Vaccarello. Desde chamarras con bandas de terciopelo hasta shorts cortos de piel o vestidos negros y con estampado de leopardo, cada prenda y accesorio es ideal para usarse en un día de fiesta.

The vibe is all about rock stars of the 80's at Anthony Vaccarello's Saint Laurent Collection. From velvet band jackets to leather short shorts, each garment and accessory is perfect to pull off a party look

LOEWE

Esta propuesta de la marca española tuvo outfits muy diferentes pero cada uno con mucha personalidad, además de aires dramáticos y toques muy femeninos.

This collection made by the Spanish brand had very different outfits but each with a lot of personality, in addition to dramatic airs and very feminine touches.

ISABEL MARANT

La década de los 80’s también fue el punto de partida de esta colección en la que la marca tomó las tendencias más casuales y opulentas de ese momento para crear la mezcla perfecta entre piezas llamativas y prendas casuales usando mucho denim y glitter.

The 80's were also the starting point of this collection in which the brand took the most casual and opulent trends of that era to create the perfect mix between striking pieces and casual clothes using a lot of denim and glitter.

CHLOÉ

Natacha Ramsay-Levi presentó el concepto “modernismo hippie” usando estampados paisley, pantalones acampanados y otras piezas hechas en tonos tierra.

Natacha Ramsay-Levi presented the concept "hippie modernism" using paisley prints, flared pants, crochet and other pieces made in array of earthy tones.

Paris Fashion Week: Dior 'Printemps-Eté 2019'

¡Hola, mis amores! Les escribo desde París como se los prometí para contarles todo sobre la colección Spring-Summer 2019 de Christian Dior. Como les platiqué mientras volaba de México para acá, viajé a esta ciudad para ir a este desfile así que en cuanto llegué, lo primero que hice –después de desayunar obviamente jaja– fue arreglarme para ir a la pasarela. ¡Es difícil poner en palabras lo emocionada que estaba!

Hi, my loves! I'm in Paris writing to tell you all about the new Dior collection as I promised yesterday. As I told you before, I traveled specially to go to this show so when I arrived, the first thing I did after having breakfast obviously haha was to get ready to go to this event. It's hard to put into words how excited I was!

La invitación decía hippodrome of Paris y por eso pensé que esta nueva propuesta iba a ser una “continuación” de Dior Resort, pero lo que vi fue algo completamente distinto. Llegando Hippodrome de Longchamp, me impresionó el espacio oscuro que la firma hizo especialmente para la ocasión con luces que enfatizaron el elemento principal que sirvió como inspiración para crear esta colección: la danza.

The invitation to the Spring 2019 show for Christian Dior read “hippodrome of Paris.” This might have been a hint for the new version of the Dior Resort collection, but it turned out to be something completely different. The moment I arrived to Hippodrome de Longchamp, I was impressed by the theatrical darkness that emphasized the heart and inspiration of this collection: dance.

A partir de esta disciplina, la Directora Creativa de Dior se basó en las obras de algunas heroínas de la danza contemporánea como Loïe Fuller, Isadora Duncan, Ruth Saint Denis, Martha Graham y Pina Bausch, para crear piezas femeninas y ligeras.

The Creative Director of Dior women's collection drew inspiration from a series of heroines of contemporary dance such as Loïe Fuller, Isadora Duncan, Ruth Saint Denis, Martha Graham and Pina Bausch.

La experiencia empezó con ocho bailarines que protagonizaron una obra de danza conceptual, coreografiada por la israelí Sharon Eyal.

The experience began with eight dancers who starred in a conceptual dance work, choreographed by the Israeli Sharon Eyal.

Mientras los bailarines se movían, las modelos caminaban usando prendas de tul y seda con formas vaporosas o translúcidas que reflejaban esa libertad de movimiento.

While the dancers moved, the models walked wearing tulle and silk garments with vaporous and translucent shapes that reflected freedom of movement.

Me encantaron los estampados florales abstractos y artesanales tie-dye, las chamarras de mezclilla inspiradas en los sonidos del hip hop, los trajes de color, además de las bolsas que son y siempre serán mi fascinación.

I loved the abstract floral and handmade tie-dye prints, the denim jackets inspired by the sounds of hip hop, the colored suits, in addition to the bags that are and always will be a weakness of mine.

En conclusión, el corazón de esta colección es una poderosa explosión de la imaginación femenina. ¡Fue un honor haber podido estar aquí!

The heart of this collection is a powerful explosion of the female imagination. It was an honor to be there!

FLORALS  

Este otoño, para transformar las aplicaciones y estampados florales vistos en pasarelas de marcas como Gucci, Dior y Dolce & Gabbana, te recomiendo apostar por vestidos con fondo negro, piezas pintadas o accesorios.

This autumn, rock all floral prints as seen in brands like Gucci, Dior and Dolce & Gabbana, make sure you have floral prints in your closet specially in darker colors for for garments and accessories.

LEATHER

La piel o polipiel siempre será un básico durante los últimos meses del año. Trata de usarla con algo de mezclilla o con diferentes colores para maximizar el look.

Black leather is out in its fullest. Match it with denim for a full glam power woman silhouette.

ANIMAL PRINT 

Les quiero confesar que antes no lo usaba mucho porque sentía que llamaba demasiado la atención pero aprendí que combinándolo con colores neutros, se logran combinaciones cool.

Before I didn’t wear this pattern because I felt that it called too much attention but I learned that with neutral colors, you can achieve great outfits.

OVERSIZED

Desde chamarras o parkas, hasta pantalones y bolsas, todo lo XXL está más fuerte que nunca. El secreto está en combinarlas con prendas ajustadas al cuerpo para lograr el equilibrio.

From jackets or parkas to trousers and bags, everything XXL is stronger than ever and expect to go up a few sizes this season. Use these accessories with body-fitting clothes to balance your look out.

PATCHWORK 

Esta es una de mis tendencias favoritas. El espíritu folklórico llega con tejidos en diferentes texturas. Amo mezclarlos con denim y botas.

This is one of my favorite trends. The folk spirit arrives with fabrics in different textures. I love to mix them with denim and boots.

Todavía me acuerdo de mi primer post. Lo escribí un viernes y fue sobre cómo usar vestidos de flores. Les escribo este post para platicarles cómo ha cambiado y cuáles son mis secretos para formar looks. No estoy segura de cuánto duren mis fórmulas pero sí sé que seguiré sumando a mi lista nuevas piezas clave. ¡Los amo!

I still remember my first blog post… I feel that from that day until today, my style has evolved but has always kept the same essence. I write this post to tell you how it has changed and what are my secrets to creating amazing looks. I'm not sure how long my formulas will last but I know that I’ll always keep looking for new trends. I love you!

Sí a los tonos neutros: Siempre trato de ordenar mi clóset por colores y texturas para poder encontrar más fácil y rápido las prendas o accesorios que estoy buscando. Antes me llamaban la atención los colores intensos pero aprendí que además de ellos, es importante tener básicos en tonos neutros porque mucho más versátiles y fáciles de combinar.

Neutral tones: I always try to order my clothes and accessories by colors and textures to be able to find them easier and faster for whatever I’m looking for in my closet. Lately I learned that it’s important to have basic neutral tones because they are much more versatile.

Mix & match: Creo que para formar outfits increíbles, una de las claves está en mezclar prendas fast fashion y accesorios de marca. Además de encontrar el equilibrio, siempre he estado convencida de que una buena bolsa o un par de zapatos atemporales, maximizan casi cualquier combinación.

Mix & match: To create incredible outfits all you have to do is mix fast fashion garments and brand accessories. In addition to finding balance, I have always been convinced that a good bag or a pair of timeless shoes, can make a look memorable.

High-waisted jeans, shorts, skirts & pants: Como ya saben, estoy enamorada de las piezas de cintura alta y son un elemento básico en mi clóset. Antes prefería los vestidos pero ahora amo alternar. El secreto está en combinarlos con piezas que tengan las proporciones correctas o hasta agregar un cinturón y una chamarra.

High-waisted jeans, shorts, skirts & pants: As you know, I'm in love with high-waisted pieces and they are a staple in my closet. I used to prefer dresses but now I love to alternate. The secret is to wear them with pieces that have the right proportions or even add a belt and a jacket.

Sí a los zapatos cómodos: Al principio casi no usaba tenis por miedo a verme desarreglada pero hoy me di cuenta de que son básicos para conocer lugares nuevos siempre que voy de viaje y que se pueden combinar con todo. No puedo vivir sin ellos. Siento que se ven bien con casi cualquier cosa… Otro tipo de zapatos que amo son las botas. Creo que son atemporales y perfectas para esos días en los que el clima cambia mucho.

Comfy shoes: At first I almost didn’t wear sneakers but today I realized that they are necessary if I want to walk around and getting to meet new places whenever I travel and that they go with everything. I can’t live without them.!I feel like they look good with almost anything ... Another type of shoes I love are boots. I think they are timeless and perfect for those days when the weather changes a lot.

Round sunglasses: Si hablamos de accesorios, siempre amaré los lentes de sol. Antes usaba de aviador pero ahora me gustan con forma redonda o alargados.

Round sunglasses: If we talk about accessories, I will always love sunglasses. I used to wear an aviator style but now I like them in a round shape.

#NYFW: Mis desfiles favoritos

¡Hola, mis amores! Ya estamos como les he platicado antes, esta es una de mis épocas favoritas del año porque empiezan las nuevas ediciones de Fashion Week en las capitales de la moda: Nueva York, Londres, París y Milán.

Hi my loves! September is one of my favorite months because the newest editions of Fashion Week take place in the fashion capitals: New York, London, Paris and Milan.

Estos días estuve muy feliz en NYC, ciudad que es una de mis favoritas porque grandes opciones de comida (les comparto mi post con los mejores postres en NYC) y tiene una vibra muy cool. Viajé a este lugar para ir a algunos desfiles y hoy les quiero platicar cuáles fueron mis favoritos.

These days I was very happy in NYC, a city that is one of my favorites because it has a very cool vibe. I traveled to this place to go to some fashion shows and today I want to tell you which were my favorites.

Michael Kors

Cuando pienso en este diseñador, automáticamente me pongo de buenas. Las telas, los colores y las texturas de cada una de sus colecciones son un mood booster. Su inspiración para crear esta colección fue la playa y el lugar del desfile –Pier 17 en Seaport– fue perfecto para presentar su propuesta llena de alegría y color. Los elementos destacados fueron las bolsas de lon, los abrigos de cachemir y los estampados usando el logo MK Beach Club. ¡La amé!

This designer is a mood enhancer. The fabrics, colors and textures of each of its collections are mood boosters. His inspiration to create the latest was the beach so he booked Pier 17 on the Seaport to set the tone. The highlights of the collection were canvas totes and cashmere beach-towel wraps stamped with the logo MK Beach Club. I loved it!

Tory Burch

Si existe un tema en común que pude encontrar en la mayoría de las colecciones vistas en #NYFW es viajar. Los viajes sirven son la base de la inspiración de los diseñadores y Tory Burch tomó un viaje en crucero hecho por sus papás hace años. Italia, Grecia, Marruecos y España fueron la base para crear una propuesta que es casual pero está perfectamente confeccionada y detallada.

Wanderlust was a theme in common that I found in #NYFW. Designers, Tory Burch included, take traveling as inspiration to create new clothes and accessories. The designer was inspired by a cruise trip made by her parents years ago. Italy, Greece, Morocco and Spain were the start points to create a collection that was comfortable and chic.

Milly

‘Metamorfosis’ me gustó mucho porque creo que es muy diferente a todas las anteriores. Siluetas definidas y colores llamativos, acompañaron la vibra deportiva que destacó en casi todas las prendas.

I loved 'Metamorphosis' because I think it's very different from all the previous collections of this fashion brand. Defined silhouettes and striking colors accompanied the sporting vibe that stood out.

Carolina Herrera

Me fascina que la mejor lección que Wes Gordon aprendió de Carolina Herrera es que "La gente feliz hace ropa feliz". Tiene muchísima razón y su primera colección para la marca lo refleja. AMÉ todos los vestidos y los estampados florales. ¡Me encantaría usarlos todos!

“Happy people make happy clothes,” is the most important lesson that learned Wes Gordon from Carolina Herrera. His first collection for the brand reflects it. I LOVED all the dresses and the floral prints. I would love to wear them all!

Ralph Lauren

Para celebrar su aniversario #50, la marca centró su colección en el romanticismo y la sofisticación moderna. Lo que más me gustó fueron los accesorios y los zapatos…

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the brand focused its collection in the spirit of bold romanticism and modern sophistication.

¡Hola, mis amores! Viajé a Nueva York para vivir una vez más todo lo que pasa en Fashion Week y estoy disfrutando muchísimo cada minuto aquí. Desde las pasarelas –lo que más amo en la vida es conocer nuevas tendencias–, las presentaciones, las fiestas y hasta el clima… Estos días ha estado lloviendo muchísimo y lo que más se me antoja siempre es un buen café y algo dulce. Hi my loves! I'm in NYC and before leaving the hotel I decided to write this post because many of you asked me which are my favorite places to have coffee in Mexico City. The truth is that it's difficult for me to say "no" to coffee no matter where I I am, but I definitely have my favorites...

Me gusta mucho que el chef Enrique Olvera use ingredientes locales, de temporada y que están producidos con conciencia. El café es muy bueno y puedes tomarlo ahí o pedirlo para llevar. 

I really like that Chef Enrique Olvera uses local, seasonal ingredients that are carefully produced. The coffee is very good and you can have it there or order it to go.

Este lugar está inspirado en las mejores cafeterías de San Francisco y Montreal. Amo que tenga mesas grandes de madera y una barra de café. Tienen muchas opciones diferentes como el café hecho con método de goteo, el cold brew o una delicia que es helado de vainilla artesanal con un shot de café expreso que se llama affogato. 

This place is inspired from the best coffee shops in San Francisco and Montreal. I love that you find big wooden tables there an d a large coffee bar. They have lots of options like slow dripping coffee, cold brew and even an amazing drink which has vanilla ice cream and a shot of espresso called affogato.

¡Me fascina la decoración! Este lugar es súper femenino y cool. El café es rico y otro de mis favoritos es el té matcha caliente. 

I love this place! It's feminine and cool. Coffee is good and another of my favorites here is the hot matcha tea.

Siempre que estoy en Polanco trato de tomarme uno. ¡Lo amo! Se me hace que tiene la ubicación perfecta y el servicio es muy bueno.

Los pasos a seguir para llevar un estilo de vida saludable

¡Hola, mis amores! Ya es miércoles y hoy es el día perfecto para seguir haciendo ejercicio, cuidando nuestro cuerpo y preocupándonos por lo que comemos. Seguramente han escuchado el término clean eating, que se puso súper de moda este año. Más que ser una dieta, es una forma de alimentación que se basa en comer la mayor cantidad de productos puros que sean realmente nutritivos y tengan muchos beneficios.

Hi my loves! Today is the perfect day to continue exercising, taking care of our body and worrying about what we eat. Maybe you have also heard the term clean eating instead of actually being on a diet, it's a way of eating that is based on having the most pure products that are truly nutritious and have many benefits for you.

Ya saben que soy fan de los bowls y hace poquito pude platicar con Mora Mora que además de hacer algunos de mis açai bowls favoritos en México, son una marca pionera en clean eating que tienen ya cuatro sucursales súper cool en la Ciudad de México y varios programas detox para facilitar la depuración y eliminación de toxinas en el organismo. Amo que trabajan todos los días para promover el estilo de vida Clean Life que literal se basa en comer cosas realmente puras y hacer actividades que ayuden a encontrar el equilibrio físico, mental y con el medio ambiente. You already know my love for bowls and today I want to tell you that recently I talked with Mora Mora a place that makes some of my favorite açai bowls in Mexico and a pioneer brand in clean eating that has several detox programs to facilitate the purification and elimination of toxins that our body accumulates. I love that they work every day to promote the Clean Life lifestyle that literally is based on eating really pure things and doing activities that help us find physical, mental and environmental balance. To tell you more about this topic, I asked them to give me the steps I should follow to lead a healthy lifestyle, I've summarized them in some tips that I feel are very useful. Keep reading!

Paso 1: Clean eating

Este término es el más adecuado para englobar todos los significados de la comida saludable. El primer paso para lograrlo es tratar de cambiar ASAP los alimentos procesados, azúcares refinados, productos animales y lácteos por productos puros, basados en plantas. 

Step 1: Clean eating

This term brings together all the meanings in healthy food. The first step to achieve this is to try to change ASAP processed foods, refined sugars, animal products and dairy products by pure, plant-based products.

Paso 2: Clean body

Muchas personas empiezan a hacer ejercicio para cuidar o bajar de peso y después se van dando cuenta de todos sus beneficios. Yo lo hago para mantenerme sana a largo plazo y porque me hace sentir muy feliz. Igual que Mora Mora, estoy convencida de que el ejercicio es  la fuente de energía para que el día de mañana podamos seguir saludables.

Step 2: Clean body

Many people start exercising to lose weight and then realize all the benefits of doing it. I exercise to stay healthy in the long term and because it makes me feel very happy. Like Mora Mora, I'm convinced that exercise is the best source of energy.

Paso 3: Clean planet

Después de llevar una buena alimentación y cuidar nuestro cuerpo, es importante preocuparnos por el medio ambiente. Seamos conscientes de que el planeta también nos necesita y que podemos hacer pequeñas cosas que hacen grandes como tratar de comer menos productos animales, no usar popotes, tratar de usar menos el coche o separar la basura y reciclar.

After balancing a good diet and taking care of our body, it's important to care about the environment. Let's be aware that the planet also needs us and that we can do small things that make a huge difference like trying to eat less animal products, not using straws, trying to use the car less or separating the garbage and recycling.

Paso 4: Clean mind

Por último pero no menos importante, es básico tener nuestra mente sana, clara y en paz. Los invito a llevar una vida mindfulness para estar bien con ustedes y con el entorno. Vivan en el presente y desconéctense no una sino varias veces al día. 

Step 4: Clean mind

Last but not least, it's essential to have a healthy mindset, clear and at peace. I invite you to work in a mindfulness life to be well with yourself and with the environment. Live in the present and disconnect not once but several times a day.

Los hábitos que he aprendido de algunas mujeres exitosas

¡Feliz lunes, mis amores! Hoy les quiero contar que hay muchas mujeres cerca de mí que definitivamente me motivan todos los días. Inspirándome en ellas estas increíbles mujeres con las que he tenido la oportunidad de convivir y hasta trabajar, decidí hacerles este post con esos hábitos que encuentro en común entre ellas y que ya forman parte de mi día a día. ¡Espero que les sirvan!

Happy Monday, my loves! There are many women near me who are definitely my role models. Inspired by their incredible personalities, I decided to write this post with the theme in mind of those habits that I find in common among them and that are already part of my everyday living. I hope you find them useful!

Listas + listas + listas

Hoy por hoy el mundo nos exige cumplir con muchas cosas al mismo tiempo y por eso a veces podemos tener tanto que hacer, que hasta se nos pueden llegar a olvidar cosas. Yo amo hacer mis notas en el celular pero también tengo una amiga que hace sus listas y divide sus pendientes usando una libreta y pluma (a la antigüita jaja). Para no perder el orden lo primero que hago es escribir dos listas separadas. La primera con todas las cosas que necesito hacer al final del día y la segunda con todo lo que necesito lograr en la semana. Puede sonar medio exagerado pero a veces vuelvo a escribirlas hasta tres veces en un mismo día para saber qué tiene prioridad y qué es lo que ya hice.

Today, the world demands that we do many things at the same time and that's why it’s important to maintain some sort of order in your work life. I love writing notes on my phone but I also have a friend who makes her lists and divides her tasks using a notebook and pen. I always write two separate lists. The first one with all the things I need to do at the end of the day and the second with everything I need to accomplish in the week. It may sound weird but sometimes I write them again three times in a single day to find out what I need to prioritize. 

Buena comunicación

No importa a qué se dediquen o qué estudiaron, en un momento u otro de sus vidas tendrán que dar retroalimentación o comunicar alguna mala noticia. De las mujeres exitosas que están a mi alrededor aprendí que es básico empezar este tipo de conversaciones difíciles diciendo algo bueno (honestamente) para luego dar puntos de vista y transmitir comentarios constructivos. Lo ideal también es acabar la conversación con algo positivo para crear y mantener relaciones positivas y de confianza.

Good communication

Someday you'll have to to give feedback or communicate some bad news. From the successful women around me I learned that it's essential to start this kind of difficult conversations by saying something good (honestly) and then give points of view and convey constructive comments to create and maintain a positive and trusting relationship. 

Sí importan las formas y el momento

Desde chiquita aprendí que lo más importante es dar las gracias y pedir las cosas por favor. Por eso, sin importar la situación creo que es clave ser amable, considerado y empático.

Timing and manners matter

Since I was a little girl I learned that the most important thing is to say thank you and ask for things politely. I think it's essential to be kind, considerate and empathic.

Hay que trabajar para conseguir lo que queremos

Todas estas mujeres de las que les platico son súper proactivas y perseverantes. Estas dos características las han llevado a lograr cosas irreales.

We must work to get what we want

All these women are proactive and perseverant. These two characteristics have led them to achieve great things.

La importancia del ejercicio

Les he platicado mil veces lo mucho que amo hacer ejercicio porque me ayuda a sentirme bien física y mentalmente. Normalmente inicio el día corriendo o con alguna clase y si de plano no tengo tiempo para hacerlo, busco caminar el aeropuerto o hasta caminar desde mi casa por un café. Les tengo que confesar que mis mejores ideas salen en esos paseos jaja.

Exercise!

I've talked a thousand times about how much I love exercising because it helps me feel physically and mentally well. I usually start the day running or by taking a class and if I do not have the time to do it, I try to walk to the airport or even walk for miles to get a cup of coffee. I have to confess that my best ideas come out on those walks. 

Por último, pero no menos importante, sean positivos siempre, vístanse para conseguir el éxito y lo más importante, ¡nunca olviden dedicarse tiempo para ustedes! Les dejo una idea de outfit que siento que es ideal para empezar la semana.
