Así ha reaccionado la industria de la moda ante el COVID-19

¡Hola, mis amores! Aprovecho estos días en casa para escribirles este post que es una reflexión sobre la preocupación en la industria de la moda, ante la sombra de una epidemia global causada por el brote de coronavirus que se originó en Wuhan, China. La mayoría de los conglomerados multinacionales de moda y lujo, han tomado acciones para reducir las repercusiones y hablado del impacto causado por el COVDI-19.

Hi my loves! I take these days at home to write this post to comment upon the concern in the fashion industry, in the shadow of a global epidemic caused by the coronavirus outbreak that originated in Wuhan, China. Most of the multinational fashion and luxury conglomerates have taken actions to reduce the repercussions and talked about the impact caused by COVDI-19.

En lo personal pude vivir el principio de la epidemia en Francia y en Milán, en el que las Semanas de la Moda se llevaron a cabo, siguiendo varias medidas de seguridad e higiene y hasta algunos shows fueron transmitidos en plataformas digitales para evitar el contacto. En ese entonces, Giorgio Armani tomó la decisión de celebrar su desfile en Milán a puerta cerrada el pasado, mientras que Ralph Lauren fue de las primeras marcas en cancelar su desfile, que originalmente iba a ser en abril.

I was able to experience the beginning of the epidemic in France and Milan, in which the Fashion Weeks were held, following safety and hygiene measures, and even some shows were broadcast on digital platforms to avoid contact. Back then, Giorgio Armani made the decision to hold his Milan show behind closed doors in the past, while Ralph Lauren was one of the first brands to cancel his show, which was originally going to be in April.

Hoy en día las firmas más poderosas del lujo, el textil y la belleza aportan donaciones contra la pandemia. Inditex por ejemplo, destinará parte importante de su presupuesto para producir material sanitario, como batas. Además, esta semana donó más de 300 mil mascarillas quirúrgicas protectoras.

Today the most powerful firms in luxury, textiles and beauty make donations against the pandemic. Inditex, for example, will designate an important part of its budget to produce sanitary material, such as medical gowns. In addition, this week they donated more than 300,000 protective surgical masks.

Por otra parte, LVMH la compañía francesa que está detrás de grandes marcas como Louis Vuitton, Fenty Beauty y Benefit Cosmetics, ahora fabrica gel desinfectante para manos en sus fábricas, que normalmente producirían perfumes o cosméticos. Otro conglomerado de moda y fragancias que se ha sumado a la causa es Puig –con marcas como Carolina Herrera, Jean Paul Gaultier o Paco Rabanne– quien anunció que también se sumará en la fabricación de desinfectante.

On the other hand, LVMH the French company that is behind big brands like Louis Vuitton, Fenty Beauty and Benefit Cosmetics, now manufactures hand sanitizing gel in the factories that normally produce perfumes or cosmetics. Another conglomerate of fashion and fragrances that has joined the cause is Puig with brands such as Carolina Herrera, Jean Paul Gaultier or Paco Rabanne, who announced that he will also join in the manufacture of disinfectant.

Donaciones monetarias

Moncler, que es otra de las marcas que amo, donó 10 millones de euros para construir un nuevo hospital en Milán. Donatella Versace donó 200 mil euros al hospital San Raffaele de Milán. mientras que Armani donó 1.25 millones a cuatro hospitales. Domenico Dolce y Stefano Gabbana también aportaron fondos a la Universidad Humanitas de Italia para la investigación de soluciones médicas o vacunas para frenar el coronavirus.

Moncler, which is another brand I love, donated 10 million euros to build a new hospital in Milan. Las directoras creativas que están revolucionando la moda

¡Feliz miércoles, mis amores! Creo que el reconocimiento y celebración hacia la mujer debe durar todo el año. Por ello, les escribo sobre estas increíbles mujeres que están revolucionando la industria de la moda y que, por supuesto, son un gran ejemplo a seguir para muchas de nosotras.

Hi, my loves! We should celebrate ourselves everyday but to commemorate this date, I want to talk about women who changed the industry and, of course, are great role models for us.

Maria Grazia Chiuri

Desde su primera colección, la que es la primera directora creativa de Dior, ha adoptado el feminismo y a esas mujeres que marcaron su historia, como inspiración para crear sus propuestas. Desde su inolvidable t-shirt con la frase “We should all be feminist’’ –que también es el título del manifesto feminista de Chimamanda Ngoz– hasta su última pasarela con la frase “I Say I” –que el título de la futura exposición dedicada a mujeres artistas italianas, con el apoyo de Dior– creo que es muy interesante ver cómo cada temporada, la diseñadora usa el alcance de su posición en pro de las mujeres.

Since she made her first collection for Dior, Chiuri has adopted feminism and those women who marked her history as inspiration to create her new proposals. From his unforgettable t-shirt with the phrase "We should all be feminist" )which is also the title of Chimamanda Ngoz's feminist manifesto) to her latest runway with the phrase "I Say I" (that the title of the future exhibition Dedicated to Italian women artists, with the support of Dior) I think it’s very interesting to see how each season, the designer uses her position in favor of women.

Virginie Viard

Tras la muerte de Karl Lagerfeld, esta diseñadora está actualmente al frente de la dirección creativa de Chanel. Virginie empezó a trabajar en la maison  como becaria de bordado de Alta Costura en 1987. Qué increíble, ¿no? Tengo que confesarles que soy fan de esta nueva era de la marca en la que Viard busca crear piezas que se apeguen a los códigos de la marca pero que al mismo tiempo tengan un toque de glamour despreocupado y cool.

After Karl Lagerfeld's death, this designer is currently at the forefront of Chanel's creative direction. Virginie started working at Chanel as an intern in Haute Couture Embroidery’s Fellow back in 1987. I have to confess that I love the new era of the maison in which Virginie Viard seeks to create pieces that stick to the codes of the brand but at the same time have a touch of carefree and cool glamour.

Sarah Burton

Estudió en Central Saint Martins de Londres, lugar en el que conoció a Alexander McQueen. Sarah se convirtió en su su mano derecha desde que empezaron a trabajar juntos, hasta el día que murió. Desde 2011 es la directora creativa de la marca. Su primera colección fue la que dejó incompleta el diseñador y con la que tuvo mucho éxito ya que logró plasmar perfectamente la esencia de McQueen, siempre con su toque femenino único.

She studied at Central Saint Martins in London, where she met Alexander McQueen. Sarah became his right hand from the time they started working together, until the day he died. Since 2011 she is the creative director of the brand. Her first collection was the one that the designer left incomplete and with which she was very successful since she managed to capture the essence of McQueen, always adding her unique feminine touch.

Clare Waight Keller

La diseñadora británica construyó una amplia carrera profesional que la llevó a trabajar para marcas como Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren y Chloé. Amo su filosofía que se basa en crear prendas que maximizen los atributos de la mujer. En 2017 se convirtió en la directora creativa de Givenchy, donde se convirtió en la primera mujer en obtener este cargo en la casa de moda francesa.

The British designer built an extensive professional career that led her to work for brands such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Chloe. I love her philosophy that is based on creating garments that maximize the attributes of women. In 2017, she became the creative director at Givenchy, where she became the first woman to obtain this position at the French fashion house.

Natacha Ramsay-Levi

Desde que empezó su carrera en en la industria de la moda, ha impregnado con su estilo cada una de sus creaciones. Durante varios años trabajó de la mano de Nicolas Ghesquière en Balenciaga y luego en Louis Vuitton, hasta que llegó el momento de dirigir Chloé.

Since she began her career in the fashion industry, she has impregnated each of her creations with her particular style. For several years she worked alongside Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga and then at Louis Vuitton, until the time came to become the creative director of Chloé.

Donatella Versace

Me fascina la historia de esta mujer, que sin duda ya es una de las figuras más representativas de la moda. Tras el asesinato de su hermano Gianni Versace en 1997, Donatella tuvo que tomar las riendas de la dirección creativa de Versace y trabajar por años para elevar aún más la marca. ¡Bravo!

I love the story of this woman, who is undoubtedly already one of the most representative figures in the fashion industry. Following the murder of her brother Gianni Versace in 1997, Donatella had to take charge of Versace's creative direction and work for years to maintain and improve the brand. Bravo!

Manual para usar negro en primavera

¡Hola, mis amores! Últimamente regresó mi amor por las prendas y accesorios en negro. El estilo gótico viene súper fuerte esta temporada gracias a las propuestas de firmas como Valentino, Balenciaga y Prada o a famosas como Billie Eilish, que nos sirven de inspiración para enamorarnos de este estilo. Si buscan experimentar con sus looks y sobre todo si no se sienten listos para renunciar al negro en primavera, lsigan leyendo para ver estos tips básicos.

Hi my loves! Lately my love for black clothes and accessories has returned. The dark and gothic style is coming super strong this season and this is because some brands such as Valentino, Balenciaga and Prada and its collection F/W 2019-2020 and celebs like Billie Eilish has made us want to wear it more. If you want to try it and add some dark pieces, follow these tips. 

Sí a los complementos como piezas clave.

Un look oscuro no tiene por qué llevar una bolsa igual de dark. Les recomiendo usarlo con una bolsa de un color brillante o algún accesorio que tenga texturas o materiales que contrasten.

A dark look doesn’t have to be dark in all the pieces. Wear a colorful bag with different prints and textures.

Sí a la mezcla de estilos.

No tienen que dejar su estilo personal con la llegada del calor, al contrario. Aprende a mezclar ambos estilos y a crear un balance con ellos. Por ejemplo, mezcla tejidos con cuero o mangas abultadas con unas botas de piel. 

You don’t have to change your personal style to adapt your look to the warm weather. It is better if you learn to mix and match both styles and create a balance. For example, mix different textures and prints such as big shoulders with leather. 

Sí a los accesorios clásicos.

Si piensas que tu outfit all-in-black con cuero no va de la mano con unas perlas en algunos aretes cool o en un collar, te recomiendo evaluarlo de nuevo. Una de las claves de estilo es mezclar diferentes estéticas. 

If you think that your all black look doesn’t fit with some gorgeous pearls as earrings, think twice. The key to reach this style is to mix two different styles.  



El estilo personal de alguien es algo que se va construyendo a través de prueba y error, así que no tengan miedo de arriesgarse. ¡Adapten lo que les guste y lo que les quede bien! 

Personal style is something you should try over and over, so take the chance. Use what you like and what it works for you.

Paris Fashion Week Recap! 🇫🇷🥐

¡Hola, mis amores! Les cuento que ayer fui al último desfile de esta temporada en Paris Fashion Week. Aunque me da nostalgia dejar esta ciudad que amo, también me emociona regresar a casa. Les escribí una reseñita sobre las pasarelas a las que fui para contarles más sobre las nuevas colecciones, detalles y los looks que usé en estos días. Au revoir Paris!

Hi my loves! Yesterday I went to the last runway of this season at Paris Fashion Week. Although I feel nostalgic about leaving this city that I love, I’m also excited to return home. I wrote this review about the fashion shows I went to, and also about the new collections, details and looks I worn these days. Au revoir Paris!

Dior

Maria Grazia Chiuri tomó su diario de adolescente como fuente de inspiración para crear esta colección. Como directora creativa la marca, ha promovido constantemente las ideologías feministas. Creo que es muy interesante ver cómo cada temporada, la firma usa el alcance de sus desfiles en pro de las mujeres. Amé absolutamente todo lo que la maison propone para otoño-invierno: desde los cuadros en un conjunto diseñado por Marc Bohan, las faldas plisadas y hasta la serie de vestidos de diferentes longitudes con diferentes estampados como puntos o aplicaciones como flecos.

Maria Grazia Chiuri took her teenage diary as a source of inspiration to create the Dior fall-winter 2020-2021 ready-to-wear collection. As the creative director of Christian Dior, a role she has held since 2016, Chiuri has consistently promoted feminist ideologies. I think that it’s really interesting to see how each season, the brand uses this reach to enforce women’s rights. I loved absolutely everything: from the checks on an ensemble designed by Marc Bohan to the pleated skirts and even the series of dresses of different lengths with different prints as dots or fringes.

Loewe

La filosofía de Jonathan Anderson sobre la situación de la moda femenina este año gira en torno a siempre tratar de crear cosas nuevas. Con esta colección el diseñador busca regresar la emoción por vestirnos al presentar nuevos tipos de siluetas. Jumpsuits, vestidos drapeados, abrigos XXL y trajes o vestidos con corsés en la cintura, fueron algunas de las prendas que destacaron durante el desfile.

Jonathan Anderson's philosophy about the situation of women's fashion this year revolves around always trying to create new things. With this collection, the designer seeks to return the emotion of dressing well by presenting new types of silhouettes. Jumpsuits, draped dresses, XXL coats and suits and dresses with corsets at the waist, were some of the garments that stood out during the show.

Viard se inspiró en una fotografía del kaiser de la moda en el la que también aparece la que alguna vez fue una de sus musas: Anna Piaggi. La imagen fue tomada a finales de los 80’s y Lagerfeld lleva una chamarra a rayas, además de una corbata de seda negra, pantalones y botas de montar. Estas últimas estuvieron presentes en toda la colección compuesta por 72 looks. Entre las piezas que destacaron están los suéteres de punto grueso, shorts de terciopelo, faldas de tul y las creadas usando tweed. No solamente Karl era fan de los caballos y del polo. Aparentemente esta era otra de las pasiones de Gabrielle.

Viard took her inspiration from a turn-of-the-1980s photograph of Karl Lagerfeld and his muse Anna Piaggi. The image was taken in the late 80’s where Lagerfeld wears a striped jacket, plus a black silk tie, pants and riding boots. They later were present in the 72-look collection. Among the pieces that stood out are thick knit sweaters, velvet shorts, tulle skirts and those created using tweed. Not only Karl was a fan of horses and polo. Apparently this was another of Gabrielle's passions.

Lacoste

Amé que las modelos salieron de una cancha de tenis. Louise Trotter presentó la colección de la firma en el complejo de tenis Roland-Garros de París. Aunque Lacoste es más que una marca de tenis, su origen radica en este deporte y también su esencia. Polos de manga corta en diferentes colores, semi piel, vestidos de polo largo con cuello y siluetas simples, fueron los ganadores conjuntos de la que es una de mis propuestas favoritas de la siguiente temporada.

I loved that the models came out of a tennis court. Louise Trotter presented the firm's collection at the Roland-Garros tennis complex in Paris. Although Lacoste is more than a tennis brand, its origin lies in this sport and also its essence. Short-sleeved polo shirts in different colors, semi leather, long-sleeved polo shirts and simple silhouettes, were the joint winners of which is one of my favorite proposals of the following season.

Chanel 2020/21 Prêt-à-Porter

¡Hola, mis amores! Chanel siempre me sorprende. Tengo que confesarles que soy fan de esta nueva era de la maison en la que Virginie Viard busca crear piezas que se apeguen a los códigos de la marca pero que al mismo tiempo tengan un toque de glamour despreocupado y cool.

Hi my loves! Chanel always surprises me. I have to confess that I love the new era of the maison in which Virginie Viard seeks to create pieces that adhere to the codes of the brand but at the same time have a touch of carefree and cool glamour.

En todas las colecciones que ha firmado la diseñadora, hemos viso cómo el legado de Coco Chanel, y  también el estilo de Karl Lagerfeld siguen presente con algunos cambios increíbles.

In all the collections that the designer has made, we’ve seen how Coco Chanel’s and also of Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy are still present but we’ve also seen amazing changes.

Me llamó mucho la atención que el hilo conductor de la colección como siempre fue el blanco y negro pero en esta nueva propuesta aparecieron colores como el color rosa o verde limón, aparte de los usados en los cinturones, mangas o collares. ¡Quiero usar todo!

I was very attracted to the fact that the collection thread as always was black and white, but in this new proposal, colors such as pink and lemon green appeared, apart from those used in belts, sleeves or necklaces. I want to wear everything!
